Charles D. Alexander, 82, husband of Mary V. "Jenny" Hellams Alexander, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Kershaw County Medical Center.
Born May 12, 1927 in Lee County, he was a son of the late Claude M. Alexander and the late Floride Crosswell Alexander. Mr Alexander served in the United States Marine Corps. He was the owner of New Way Cleaners and Owner and Broker of Alex Realty in Bishopville for many years.
Survivors besides his wife include two daughters, Charlene Shealy (Bill) of Florence and Tina M. Kelley of Bishopville; a son, John R. McGuirt, Jr. of Bishopville; four grandchildren, Amanda Leigh Shealy, Will Shealy, John R. McGuirt, III, and Jenna McGuirt; and a sister, Bernice A. Shupe of Florence.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Alexander; and sisters, Nancy A. Mackey, Maude A. Jordan, and Helen A. Jordan.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Tyson Eckley officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the chapel.
Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
