Bishopville, SC
Thomas "Richard" Parnell, 72, husband of Jeanette Hudson Parnell, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at his home.
Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Gettice Laverne Parnell and the late Francis Inez Huggins Parnell. Mr. Parnell was a member of First Baptist Church in Bishopville. He retired from Sunoco Product Company and was a member of the Bishopville Fire Department, Woodmen of the World, and the VFW.
Survivors besides his wife include a son, Rick Parnell (Patti) of Lydia; a daughter, Sissy Parnell Watts of Bishopville; five grandchildren, Casie Yarbrough, Chandler Shirley, Bailee Watts, Ivy Watts, and Sarah Hayden Watts; three sisters, Wilma Saverence of Bishopville, Jackie Powell (Roy) of Sumter, and Linda Windham (Shot) of Lamar, a brother, Hamer Parnell (Ann) of Lamar; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Watford and Carolyn Rabon.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tom Rutan officiating. Burial will be in the Piedmont Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Bishopville Fire Department and VFW.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.
