James Ray "Jimmy" Smith, Sr., husband of Mary Ruth Smith, died Friday, December 4, 2009 at his home.
Born in Lee County he was a son of L.W. Smith, Jr. and the late Ruby Segars Smith. Mr Smith was a member of Memorial Chapel Church and was a retired truck driver and owner of Jimmy Smith and Sons Garage.
Survivors include his wife and father of Bishopville; three children, Jimmy Smith, Jr., Billy Smith (Shelia) and Tammie Lanford (Mark); three grandchildren, Laci Tobens (Craig), B.J. Smith, and Blake Lanford; three brothers, Bryan Smith, Mike Smith, Glenn Smith (Teressa); two sisters, Elinor Holloman (Glen) of Florence and Judy McLeod (Eldrige); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Memorial Chapel Church with the Rev. Jim Peterson
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home.
