Catherine Branham Morgan, 72, beloved wife of Clifton M. Morgan, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.
Born Feb. 12, 1937, in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late William "Alec" Alex and the late Eva Ray Branham. Catherine was the youngest of 12 children.
Before becoming a devoted wife and mother, Catherine was educated in the public schools of Lee County and graduated from Ashwood-Central High in 1955. She was an active member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Cliff; three children, Clifton Dennis Morgan (Gretta) of Apex, N.C., William H. "Bill" Morgan (Michelle) of Raleigh, N.C., and Catherine Annette M. Edwards (Raymond) of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mamie B. Hasty, Mary Ann B. Yarborough, and Joyce B. Huggins, all of Bishopville; one brother, Murdic Branham of Lugoff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin, Vernon, Willard, Ben, and infant Bill Branham; and two sisters, Ethel Branham Humphries and Thelma Branham Owens.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home chapel officiated by the Rev. G. Frank Ramey. Burial will be in the Piedmont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to her church, 202 Hope Mills Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304; or to a charity of one's choice.
