Henry 'Melvin' Walker, 66, husband of Sybil Christmas Walker , died Saturday, September 19. 2009 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born in Denmark, SC, he was a son of the late Edwin Lamar Walker, Sr., and the late Marjorie A. Walker. He was Director of the Lee County Public Works Department.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years; four children, Jim Ed Walker (Gwen) of Bishopville, Sybil Denise Hague (Corey) of Olive Branch, MS, Debra Lynn Watson (Douglas), and Tina Victoria Walker both of Bishopville; one sister, Marjorie Ellen McKaig of Lexington; one brother, Robert Madison Walker (Carol) of Lexington, a sister-in-law, Mary Nancy Walker of Bishopville; six grandchildren, Michael Blake Gooding; Jordan Spencer Gooding, Stacy Amanda Geddings, Anthony Ramon Lopez, Jamie Walker, and Mason Alexander Hague.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Lamar Walker, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gary M. Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Piedmont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
