Margie Ann McDowell Jordan, widow of William C. (Bill) Jordan, went home to the Lord on Saturday, December 25, at Springdale Health Facility in Camden.
Mrs. Jordan, the daughter of the late James Thomas (Booster) McDowell and Ina Stover McDowell, was born December 13, 1933 in Kershaw County.
She attended Kershaw County Schools and graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1951 at Baron DeKalb High School. She was a Registered Cosmetologist, owned her own beauty salon and was owner of Jordan Farms in Lee County until her retirement in 1998.
She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, where she was a former pianist, choir member, Sunday School Teacher, and Lay Speaker.
She grew up and married in Kershaw County, but moved with her husband and children to Lee County in 1964, where she lived until her health declined. She had been a resident of Pinedale Residential Center, Camden, since 2008.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by four children, Pam Jordan Clemons and her husband, Robert of Florence, Bill Jordan and his wife, Debbie of Bishopville, Sharon Jordan Holland and her husband, Wayne of Simpsonville, and Eric Jordan and his wife Robin, of Bishopville, one brother, Billy McDowell, and his wife, Kathy, of Kershaw. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Ethan Hill, Kelly Clemons, Robbie Clemons, Jessica Berry, Rachel Jordan, Travis Jordan, Erin Karr, Noel Ard, Colleen Holland, Cameron Jordan, and Brandon Jordan, ten great-grandchildren, one niece, and three nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Howard McDowell, a sister, Ruby McDowell, and a grandson, Justin Hill.
In her younger years, Mrs. Jordan and her husband were avid ballroom dancers and taught dance lessons in their home and at Baron DeKalb High School. She also designed and handmade most of the family wardrobe.
She would most want to be remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ, her love for her church and its family, as well as her love for her children and grandchildren, and for her wonderful sense of humor. She was the “salt and light” that her Heavenly Father expected her to be.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 at the Concord United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Camden directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville.
Visitation will be held Monday 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home.
