Legrand McElveen, 78, husband of Clara B. McElveen, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Kershaw County Medical Center.
Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Samuel Joshua McElveen and the late Viola McClam McElveen. Mr. McElveen was a member of First Baptist Church in Bishopville and was retired from Reeves Brothers. he was a graduate of Sherwood High School and attended Clemson University.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Samuel R. McElveen (Donna) of Lugoff; four grandchildren, Elizabeth McElveen Barron (Ben), Rachael McElveen, Victoria McElveen and Isabella McElveen; two great-grandchildren, Alice Barron and Benjamin Barron, Jr.; two brothers, Earl McElveen (Gladys) and Edwin McElveen; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Legrand McElveen; four brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Tabernacle Cemetery near Lynchburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral and at other times at the home.
