Vernon R. Reynolds, 90, husband of Dorothy Cornwall Reynolds died Friday, February 26, 2010 at Kershaw Health Medical Center.


Born in Lee County, he was a son of th late Raymond Authur Reynolds and the late Susie Argent Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds was a member of the High Hill True Light Church of Christ for most of his life. He was a retired merchant of the grocery and building supply business in Bishopville and was a United States Army veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife of Bishopville; two sons, Vernon Todd Reynolds, Jr. (Priscilla H.) of Bishopville and Gershom B. Reynolds (Rusty) of Monroe, NC; a daughter, Joanna Reynolds Redick (Hugh) of Salem, SC; two grandsons, Vernon Todd Reynolds (Mary Ellen) and Vernon Daniel Reynolds; three granddaughters, Tracey Anne Lynch (Chris), Dana Louise Redick, and Aimee Lynn Redick; seven great-grandchildren, Reid Lynch, Conner Lynch, Tyler Reynolds, Wess Reynolds, Ellie Ostler, Hanna Ostler, and Preston Redick.

A private graveside service will be held in the High Hill True Light Church of Christ Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Vernon T. Reynolds, Jr., Gershom B. Reynolds, Vernon Todd Reynolds, Daniel Reynolds, Hugh Redick, and Chris Lynch.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 -8:30 pm Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1898 Lucknow Road.

Ernest H. Boykin - Saturday, February 20, 2010

Services for Ernest H. Boykin, age 62, who passed away February. 20, 2010, will be held Tuesday 3:00pm at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. 

Rev. Danny Pierce will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery in the Turkey Creek Community of Lee County. Visitation will be Monday 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home.

Ernest was born in Lee County a son of Annie Bell Hopkins Hooker and the late Hudson Boykin. He was a retired Auto Mechanic. Surviving are his mother, Hartsville, son, Marty Boykin, Hartsville, Brothers, Pete, R.W. & Junior Boykin, all of Hartsville, John Clark, McBee, Tyrone Clark, Hartsville, Tony Blackwell, Hartsville, Sister, Carolyn Woods, Jesup, GA, Grandchild, He was preceded in death by a son Todd Boykin and a sister, Doris Lloyd.

Carolyn Dority Beasley - Wednesday, February 17, 2010







Bishopville, SC - Mrs. Carolyn Dority Beasley, age 80, widow of Elton Beasley, Jr. passed away February 17, 2010.  Services will be held Saturday, February 20 at 4:00pm at Faith Baptist Church.   Rev. Arlin Kirkland and Rev. Lawrence Melton will officiate.  Burial will be in the Piedmont Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel.  Visitation will be held Friday 6-8pm at the funeral home.   Mrs. Beasley was born in Bishopville a daughter of the late William Barney and Eva Hancock Dority.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, was an Avid Gardner and a wonderful cook.  Surviving are daughters:  Patricia (John) Latimer, Bishopville, Linda (Walter) Polandi, Columbia, sons: Jimmy (Ann) Beasley, Bishopville, Kenneth (Tina) Beasley, Bishopville, Jerry (Flora) Beasley, Bishopville. grandchildren:  3 Great Grandchildren, Brother:  Bill Dority, Sumter, Adopted brother:  Kermit Hancock, California. Fair Harrelson Smith - Wednesday, February 17, 2010


Fair H. Smith, 87, of Charlotte, formerly of Bishopville, SC, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville. She was born on May 28, 1922 in Mullins, SC to the late Maxcy and Dora Page Harrelson.
 
Survivors include her son, Chip Smith and wife Rena of Bishopville, SC; daughter, Page Gupton and husband Kenneth of Huntersville, NC; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Clyburn Smith.
 
Memorials may be made to Bishopville Presbyterian Church Building Fund, PO BOX 66 Bishopville, SC 29010.
 
The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Bishopville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ken Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday evening at Fair’s home in Bishopville.

Mrs. Doris DuBose Parnell, widow of George W. Parnell, age 79 passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010.  Services will be held Friday, February 19th at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville.  

Rev. Jim Baker will officiate.  Burial will be in Darlington Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be held Thursday 6-8pm at the funeral home.  

Mrs. Parnell was born in Charlotte, NC, the daughter of the late Glenn DuBose, Sr. and Allie Meeks DuBose.  She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.  Surviving are:  Daughters:  Cindee (Carl) Jernigan, Darlington, Judy (Dennis) Dyches, Columbia.  Sister:  Libby Huggins, Lamar.  Grandchildren:  Brian and Brent Jernigan, Dana Plumley.  Great Grandchildren:  Brianna, Bryson, and Carson Jernigan, Arizona Plumley.  Extended family:  Dylan and Crystal Darity.  Predeceased by a son Robert Carroll Parnell, and a brother Glenn DuBose, Jr.

Funeral services for Douglas Andrew (Andy) Hopkins, age 51, who passed away Feb. 12, after a long illness at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital, will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home in Bishopville. 

Burial will be in the Gum Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Hartsville. Visitation will be Monday 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home in Bishopville. 

Andy was born in Hartsville a son of Dorothy Amerson Herring and the late W.A. Hopkins. Surviving are his wife, Lisa Thompson Hopkins, Blythewood, his mother of Bishopville, 3 daughters, Stephanie H.
