Charlotte Ryan Stuckey - October 7, 2009

Bishopville, SC 

Charlotte Ryan Stuckey, 92, widow of William Hamer Stuckey, entered into eternal glory with her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, on October 7, 2009 in Irmo, SC at the Ascension Hospice House.

Church services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October9, 2009 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bishopville with the Rev. Paul Rogers and the Rev. Randal Shell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Trenton, SC on August 17, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Elbert Lacon Ryan and the late Helen Salter Ryan. Mrs. Stuckey was educated in Trenton and graduated from Coker College, Class of 1938. She taught in South Carolina Public Schools for 38 years. She joined Bethlehem United Methodist Church in January of 1950, shortly after her marriage. Mrs. Stuckey served her church faithfully in many areas for 59 years, serving two terms as President of the United Methodist Women and teaching the Constance Herbert Class. She was also a member of the Bishopville Book Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Historical Society. She was a former member of the Iris Garden Club.

She is survived by two sons, William Hamer Stuckey (Susan) and Brookes Ryan Stuckey (Emily); four grandchildren whom she adored, Ryan, Marianne, Joanna, and Marshall; a sister, Grace Ryan Reynolds (Graham), of Trenton; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be anytime at the home, 143 Edmund Avenue, Bishopville, SC 29010.

Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church or to the Care Center, PO Box 167, Bishopville, SC 29010.

A very special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Lucille March, whom she loved; and also to the staff of Ascension Hospice in Florence and Irmo.
