Owen Wallace Adams, 84, husband of the late Florence Benfield Adams, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in McCoy Memorial Nursing Center. He was born July 18, 1929, in Appleton, MN, but grew up and lived the majority of his life in Iowa. He was a son of the late Gerald Adams and the late Ena Ackley Adams. Mr. Adams was member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He dearly loved his church and the Bishopville community. He was employed by John Deere for more than 60 years, and spent over 30 years at Payne and Kennedy in Bishopville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include three children, Jacki Rae Lawhon (Brent) of Woodville, FL, Patti Jo Baker (Charlie) of Charleston, and Glynn Atkinson (Ann) of Florence; brothers, Jerry Adams (Julie) of CA, Lee Adams (Eva Maria) of Missouri, and Larry Adams (Mary Lou) of Arizona; sisters, Ruth Newton (Don) and Judi Quinn (Jack) all of Arizona; and a special friend, Carol Carter of Bishopville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Max Adams; and two sisters, Shirley Sellon and Faith Flescheniem. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Watson officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m.. Saturday in the church fellowship hall.
