Edna Brown Bramlett, 97, died Nov. 27, 2010, at her lifelong home in Browntown.

The family received friends Monday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home Chapel in Bishopville, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Gardner and Chaplain Allen Lynch.

Burial will follow in Piedmont Cemetery in Bishopville.

 
Ms. Bramlett was a self-employed seamstress and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Bramlett.

 
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Walker of Bishopville; sisters, Isabella Shebee of Charleston and Minnie Lou Brown of Bishopville; grandchildren, Jim Ed Walker (Gwen) of Bishopville and Sybil D. Hague (Corey) of Olive Branch, Miss.; five great-grandchildren, Blake (Shauna) and Jordan Gooding, Stacy Geddings, Jamie Walker and Mason Hague; and one great-great-grandson, Caleb Denman. Susan Ellen Scurry Chappell November 20, 1941 - November 26, 2010

Susan Scurry ChappellAIKEN, SC - Susan Scurry Chappell, 69 of Aiken, S.C., died from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease) on November 26, 2010. She was born on November 20, 1941, in Sumter, S.C., daughter of the late William Hayne and Mary Ellen Faris Scurry of Bishopville, S.C. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 29, at 11AM at Aiken First Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Bennett and the Rev. Martha Ebel officiating. Interment will follow at 3PM at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bishopville, S.C. Pallbearers will be Greer Todd, George Todd, Joe Todd, Benjamin Gause, Jr., Marshall Cain, Keith Steele, and Bill Stokes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marvin Quattlebaum and David Watson.
She is survived by two sons, Travis (Trave) Chappell, III and his wife Maribeth of Huntersville, N.C., and son William (Bill) Hayne Chappell of Washington, D.C., and his wife Michelle. One brother, Bill Scurry, and his wife, Gail, of Huntersville, N.C.; and two sisters, Sally S. Petermann of LaGrange, Ga., and Kathy S. Thomas and her husband John, of Jacksonville, Fla. Three grandchildren, Travis Shand Chappell, William Blake Chappell and Coleman Myles Chappell of Huntersville, N.C. Brother-in-law Jim Chappell and his wife, Cam, of Columbia, S.C. Sister-in-law Frances Jeter and her husband, Russell, of Beaufort, S.C. An aunt, Kathleen S. Todd of Saluda, S.C., mother-in-law, Patience (Bonnie) Chappell of Columbia, and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Susan grew up in Bishopville, and was a graduate of Bishopville High School. She received her BA degree from Columbia College in Columbia, S.C., and a a Masters degree in education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She taught students with learning disabilities in Aiken County Public Schools for thirty two years. Susan was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Delta Chapter. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Aiken.

Larry Andrew Hall - November 20, 2010

Larry Andrew Hall, 62, husband of Carolyn Tisdale Hall, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, S.C.
Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late Elise Hall. He was a charter member of the Lee County Fire Department Station 6. He was a mechanic with Payne & Kennedy, Inc. for 21 years. He was presently employed as a mechanic with the Lee County Bus Maintenance Shop.
Survivors include his wife of Lucknow; a sister Sara Jo Hall Tisdale (Clarence) of Lucknow; a brother Dewitt Hall of Lucknow; eight nieces; three great nieces; eight great nephews; two great great nieces.He was preceded in death by a nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 p. m. Tuesday in the Lucknow Baptist Church with Mr. Cecil Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p. m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Nina Outlaw Smith - November 22, 2010

BISHOPVILLE - A funeral service for Mrs. Nina Outlaw Smith will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at Elliott Baptist Church, Elliott. The Revs. Robert Griggs and Eric Truesdale will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery on Lynchburg Highway.
The family will receive friends during visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Hill Funeral Home, Church Street, Bishopville.
Mrs. Smith passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2010.
Born Jan. 24, 1924, in Darlington County, she was a daughter of Julia Wingate Outlaw and John Daniel Outlaw.
Surviving are her husband of 69 years, John Martin Smith Jr.; daughters, Christine Abbott (Rick), Patricia Segars and Johnnie Mathis (James); her son, John Martin Smith III (Pam); and her sister-in-law Christine M. Shirley (Louis). She is also survived by grandchildren, Laura Pfefferkorn, Patrick Bigger, James Mathis Jr., Susan M. Noller (Drew) and Kelley Segars, as well as eight great-grandchildren and an a number of nieces and nephews along with many other loving family and friends.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Louise Woods, Ida Maness, Mary Little, Margie Duffy, Miriam Parnell and Jean Dennis; her brother J.D. Outlaw; and her son-in-law, John Kelley Segars.
During her long life, Mrs. Smith was an active and contributing member of her church and the Lee County community, especially her Wisacky neighbors. She was known for her generosity of spirit, expressed in the sharing of her special talents as a wonderful cook and seamstress, as well as the bounty from her flower and vegetable gardens. She lived her faith in both word and deed, and will be greatly missed by her family land friends.
It is the request of the family that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Elliott Baptist Church, c/o Becky Berdeau, 2333 Wisacky Highway, Bishopville, SC 29010, or to Ascension Hospice, 1303 W. Evans St., Florence, SC 29501.

Funeral services for James Heyward Riley, age 90, who passed away Nov. 24, will be held Sat. at 11:00 am at Hebron United Methodist Church Rev. Chris Wechsler will officiate. 
Burial will be in the Hebron Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home. 
Mr. Riley was born in Bishopville a son of the late Christopher C. and Mamie Walters Riley. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 37 years of service, member of the Old Timers Club, Patesville Masonic Lodge and a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. 
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Rosa Lee Hatchell Riley, Bishopville, daughter, Janice (Robert) Busby, Columbia, sons, Mike (Diane) Riley, North Myrtle Beach, Don (Becky) Riley, Bishopville, 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren.

Grace Richards DesChamps February 24, 1933 - November 12, 2010


Grace Richards DesChamps of Acworth, GA. & Bishopville, SC. died Friday, November 12, 2010 at her daughter's home. She was 77. Grace was an adoring wife, the best Mother, Grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is remembered for her special way of touching those she loved.


She is survived by her husband, Wallace P. DesChamps of SC. and a large family: four children, Mike, Lynette, & Carey Carlisle & Beverly Clackum; three step-sons, Wally, John & Stephen DesChamps; four daughter-in-laws; two son-in-laws and their families including 19 grandchildren & 21 great-grandchildren. Her son, Tony Carlisle, died in 1998. 



Born in Ball Ground, GA. she grew up and worked in Cherokee & Cobb Counties, retiring from Lockheed Georgia Co. after 40 years in 1993. In 1995 she married Wallace and enjoyed their travels and embraced life in Bishopville.
