A funeral service to celebrate the life of James Rudolf Melton, 86, of Cassatt, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Pastor Jeff Grubbs and Rev. John Hallman will officiate. Burial will follow in Quaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM, 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. James Rudolf Melton, husband of Mary Frances Cureton Melton, died August 20, 2014. He was born in Darlington, SC, the son of the late Elwyn and Marie Andrews Melton. Mr. Melton was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

He was a US Navy veteran and was retired from DuPont in the Power Plant and Wastewater Division. Mr. Melton also built and ran the North Central Market and Grill in Cassatt.
Mr. Melton is survived by his wife; daughters, Caroline Cureton Melton and Elizabeth Andrews Melton Ballard, both of Cassatt; sons, James Elwyn Melton and Frank Cureton Melton, both of Cassatt; 7 grandsons; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and his sisters, Peggy M. Green of Florence, SC and Shirley M. Wells of Franklin, TN.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Agape Hospice for their special care.
Besides his parents, Mr. Melton was predeceased by his son, John Felder Melton.
