Services for Mr. Eric Nelson Nunnery  age 48 who departed this life on February 26, 2011 and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be held Monday, February 28 at 4:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church.  

Rev. Sim Smith and Rev. Homer Hinson will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.  

Visitation will be held 6-8 Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Brenda McCaskill at 72 Lee Road, Camden, SC.  

Eric was born in Bishopville the son of Charles Edward Nunnery and the late Brenda Starnes Nunnery.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and employed with Lee County Public Works for 28 years.  

Surviving are his wife Edith Arrants Nunnery, Bishopville.  Daughter:  Courtney Janine Nunnery, Bishopville.  Son:  Eric Nelson Nunnery, II, Bishopville.  Brothers:  Charles (Susan) Nunnery, II, Bishopville, Alvin (Barbara) Nunnery, New Jersey.  Grandmother:  Lorene Starnes, Bishopville.  Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Mother In Law:  Carolyn Arrants, Bishopville.

Funeral services for Betty Haygood Rhodes, age 81, who passed away Feb. 26, will be held Monday at 2:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville. 
Burial will be in the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Rhodes was born in Bishopville a daughter of the late Robert Edward & Geneva Tidwell Haygood. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a member of Bible Truth Holiness Church. 
Surviving are, two daughters, Ann Boan, Bishopville, Brenda Brown, Darlington, one brother, Robert Blanchard Haygood, Bishopville, 7 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Norton Funeral Home

Claude LeRoy Gardner - February 20, 2011

Graveside services for Claude LeRoy Gardner, age 73 who passed away Feb. 20 will be Private directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville. 
Mr. Gardner was born in McBee a son of Malissa Rogers Gardner and the late Claude Miller Gardner. Surviving are five children, Sue Oakley, Claude Gardner, Cindy Kirkley, Susan Price, David Gardner, his mother of McBee, three sisters, Sylvia Horton, McBee, Hattie Edwards, Bethune, Virginia Demby, Kershaw, two brothers, Gilliam Gardner, McBee, Randy Gardner, McBee. 13 Grandchildren. His pet Buster. 
He was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Ola Kelley, and a brother C.M. Gardner.

Mr. Homer Kennedy - Thursday, February 3, 2011

Graveside services for Homer Kennedy, age 87, who passed away Feb. 3, at McElveen Manor in Sumter, will be held Sunday at 3:00 at the Davis Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. 
Visitation will be Sunday 1:30 to 2:30 pm  at the Funeral Home. 

Mr. Kennedy was born in Lee County a son of the late Loyd & Delia Sleup Kennedy and the step-son of the late Minnie Davis Kennedy. He was a lifelong resident of Lee County where he was a farmer, mechanic and rancher. 

Surviving are his daughter & son-in-law, Louise & Billy Kinder, Bishopville, Grandson, William (Tammy) Kinder, Granddaughter, Ann (Tom) Dean, three Great Grandchildren, Dorothy Ann Dean, Tommy Dean, Amanda Kinder, all of Columbia, several  nieces & nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Edna Deas Kennedy. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of McElveen Manor for all the years of loving care and support they provided for “Mr. Homer”.

Ruth Doris Saverance

Ruth Doris Saverance, 98, left her earthly home and body and entered into her eternal heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 11, 1913, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Norma Davis Stephenson and E.P. Stephenson of Bishopville. Mrs. Saverance was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bishopville. She retired in 1975 from Carolina Power and Light Co. (Progress Energy) after more than 32 years of service.
She is survived by her two children, James P. Saverance Sr. (Pam) of Bishopville and Norman S. Heriot (Joe) of Sumter. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen Heriot (Malissia), Caroline Heriot Hinton (Harold), James P. Saverance Jr. (April), Michael Saverance and Susan Saverance Hill (Ryan); step-grandchildren, Charles Saverance (Judy), Kathy Gilliland (Tom), Russell Saverance, Todd Saverance (Jodi) and Jana Saverance; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special dear friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Ray Saverance; a stepson, Jerard Ray Saverance; infant twin grandsons; a brother, Ray Stephenson; and nephews, Del Saverance and Mike Saverance.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bishopville with the Rev. Henry Altman officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Methodist cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home.
