Lloyd Woffard Atkinson, 78, husband of Charlotte Lashley Atkinson, died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at his home.
Born July 30, 1936, in Lee County, he was a son of the late Madison Arthur Atkinson and the late Sarah Poole Atkinson. He was a graduate of Lynchburg High School and retired from Parker Auto Supply after 35 years of service. After accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1991, he became a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years; four children, Cheryl McLeod (Stanley) of Sumter, Wayne Atkinson (Debbie) of Wedgefield, Cindy Evans (Bill Porter) of Eastover, and Rusty McGee (Penny) of Sumter; step-children, Debra L. McElveen and Michael Wayne McElveen both of Sumter, Ann E. Deal (Tim) of Columbus, OH, Bobby Joe McGee of Lake City, Sandra Nesbitt of Georgetown, Linda McGee of Lake City, Diane Hephburn (Robert) of Scranton; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Iris DuBose (Bobby) of Sumter; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce Derwin McGee and David Anthony McGee; six brothers, Edward, Leo, Buster, Claude, Glenn, and C.J. Atkinson; and a sister, Marie Schwartzback.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jim Palmer and the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the Wells Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stanley McLeod, Jr., Jason Capell, Sidney Caples, Billy Atkinson, Mike Clint Weaver, and Brandon Deal.
Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Capell.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 306 Wilson St.
Memorials may be made to Northside Memorial Baptist Church, 1004 N. Main St., Sumter, SC 29153, Tri- County Hospice, 2560 Tahoe Dr., Sumter, SC 29150, or the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, 2445 Old Manning Rd., Sumter, SC 29150.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Tri-County Hospice, especially to Kim Griffin, Sue Smith, and Sally McDuffie, for all of their care and compassion.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
