Edith A. "Bunny" Mathis, 84, widow of Marion E. Mathis, died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at her home.

Born in Bishopville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Henry G. Asbill and the late Dolly Duke Asbill. Mrs Mathis was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church in Columbia where she was a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a retired nurse from Lee County Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include a son, Gene Mathis (Kathy) of Columbia; four grandchildren, Adam Taylor Mathis, Jordan Cole Mathis, and Charla Price, all of Columbia, and Jason "Busch" Malloch of Spartanburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Winburn and the Rev. John Platt officiating. Burial will be in the Bishopville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 9525 Highgate Road, Columbia, SC 29223.
